Preserve The Balance in Your Life By Chris Spink
If trying to preserve balance in your life makes you seem like a tightrope walker, you’re not alone. Most of us have a lot of demands on our time and energy; life can feel like a mad house sometimes. Take this quiz to see how well you are fulfilling your responsibilities, while likewise recognizing and satisfying personal needs and wants.
[ ] 1. The only method I can successfully handle in my life is to take care of myself physically and emotionally.
[ ] 2. Nurturing me augments my capability to help others.
[ ] 3. I consume healthy food and work out regularly.
[ ] 4. I get regular appointments to the Doctor, go to the dentist, and take preventative health measures.
[ ] 5. I set aside individual, quiet time for myself, whether I’m relaxing, meditating or merely letting my thoughts drift.
[ ] 6. I experience the gifts of each year: ice skating, surfing, plenty of beach walks; gardening, bush walking, more time outside; camping, swimming, barbeques; harvesting the bounty, gathering wood, spending time inside.
[ ] 7. Creativity supports me, too. I do what I enjoy, whether that’s food preparation, drawing, painting, writing, dance, singing or an additional enjoyable pursuit.
[ ] 8. Connecting to others enriches my life. I spend quality time with friends and family.
[ ] 9. Helping in the world provides connection and purpose, so I provide my time, energy and experience where it is most beneficial.
[ ] 10. I see and take note of the emotional signals that tell me I’m out of balance: irritation, bewilderment, bitterness.
[ ] 11. If I feel that I’m getting the flu, I understand I could have stressed my immune system with overactivity, so I quit and look after myself.
[ ] 12. When I require or want to, I deny others requests for my time.
[ ] 13. I hear and honour the requests my body makes for such things as a nap, a walk, green vegetables, hot soup.
[ ] 14. If I have actually planned something for myself, I do not just let that go when somebody asks something else from me.
[ ] 15. I’m busy, but I discover time to do things I want to do.
[ ] 16. I’m pleased. I regularly experience good health, contentment, even happiness.
